25 things about Jessica

I’ve been tagged a few times on facebook for this meme. Actually it was 15 things, and now 25 things. We’ll see how far I can get.

1. Some days I enjoy being pregnant. Other times, I wish it were over already.

2. I get a little sad when I think about this probably (not definitely) being the last pregnancy I’ll experience. Because of that, I try to make the days I enjoy it more common than the other days.

3. We went through 2+ years of infertility before conceiving Phoebe. That was one of the most difficult times in my life.

4. In spite of the fact that I have one living child and one on the way, I still get a little green eyed when I see other pregnant women. Especially those who had pregnancy come so easily.

5. This second pregnancy came way too easily. I struggle with the fact that this pregnancy causes those who are still struggling to get pregnant pain.

6. I would never wish infertility on anyone. I’m truly happy for all of my friends who have children. I realize this conflicts with #4, but I also know that it is possible for one person to feel both things at once.

7. I think all children are a blessing.

8. I often feel too much empathy for others. A tragic news story can depress me for days, even if I have no personal connection to the tragedy.

9. I went to a Math and Science high school.

10. My degree is in Electrical Engineering.

11. In spite of 8 and 9, I do not consider myself a nerd or a geek.

12. I was in the gifted art program at my home high school (the school I went to before going to the Math and Science School). I wish I had more time to do arty-things.

13. I do crochet and knit often. I taught myself both using books, and for knitting the addition of internet videos. I usually follow a pattern, so I don’t consider that very creative. But it is very relaxing. I rarely watch tv without a project in my hands.

14. I need to spend more time learning to use my sewing machine. I have a bib I started for Phoebe when I was pregnant with her. It still lies on the sewing table unfinished.

15. I work full time while my child goes to daycare. I often wish I had more time with her, but I’m not sure that I could stay at home full time either. I need to figure out a way to balance the two.

16. I am the oldest grandchild on both sides of my family.

17. I was the only girl grandchild on both sides until I was a teenager. Now there are more girls than boys.

18. I love my home state of Mississippi and get really defensive when someone says something bad about it.

19. I’ve gone to Ole Miss football games every year since I was a kid. I’ve remained a huge fan, even when we’ve had bad seasons. I will not pick a side in the state of Alabama. Ole Miss is my answer if you ask me “Alabama or Auburn.”

20. Our household is a house divided – Rick went to Mississippi State. Though he is a bigger person than me. He will wear Ole Miss stuff, but I will not wear State stuff. I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’ll go to games with him, but I’ll wear something neutral – unless it is the Egg Bowl, of course. 😉

21. I’m about to join the Twilight bandwagon. I got the first book for Christmas and plan to start it soon.

22. Traveling alone stresses me out. I’ve only ever done it once and I got physically ill by the time I made it to my destination.

23. I do like to travel though. I hope that soon we’ll be able to travel as a family often. I went to Italy my senior year of High School. It is the only time I’ve ever been to Europe and I would love to go back.

24. I have to have coffee every morning. It has to be the real deal – no decaf, even when I am pregnant. I do try to limit myself to no more than two cups a day, though I break that rule occasionally, usually on weekends.

25. I had a really hard time coming up with 25 things about myself. But I’m glad that I did.

  1. It’s nice to know you have some ways like your grandmother. Other people can be upset and talk to me about it and I end up tearing up while they talk. I’m sure you have seen that your self. If someone else feelings are hurt mine are too and I will cry as much as they do. It’s upsetting sometime I feel like I am not being fair to the other person but I can’t help it. Love ya

  2. I started doing 25 things but couldn’t keep it going after 15. That is sad because one of my 15 was that I’m full of myself.

    That child is beautiful!

  3. Found you from Dooce. Wow! Not sure I could do a 25 things about me list-good job! Oh, and I got Twilight for Xmas too-I love it!

  4. Few things scare me more as a site host than “Found you from Dooce.” Heather can really bring the traffic!
