And the brain washing has begun

Tonight Phoebe yelled very loudly and excitedly, “ROLL TIDE!” and I said, “No, we don’t say Roll Tide! We say Hotty Toddy!” She thought for a second and said, “No I say Roll Tide.” Then she asked me, “Mama, what do you say?” And I told her, “I say Hotty Toddy.” She said, “No you say War Eagle!” I told her, “No I do not say Roll Tide or War Eagle, but I do say Hotty Toddy.” Then Rick came in and tried to get her to say Go Dogs! She eventually said both Hotty Toddy and Go Dogs, but I don’t think I’ve convinced her to give up the Roll Tide yet.

So yes, my daughter is not 3 yet and this state is already brainwashing her that you are either Alabama or Auburn. There is no third option. We will have to work harder at convincing her otherwise. šŸ™‚

  1. Oh yeah, I hear you. I try to teach the girls it’s ok not to be an Auburn or Alabama fan. My girls have always had passionate sport fan teachers. Usually Alabama fans, it’s crazy.

  2. Just wait til they get into Elementary school !! Moira came home telling me some little boy was chanting something about Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn smelling like baby pee! Really?! Is that really even an insult? šŸ˜‰

  3. It gets worse. Colby had a little Auburn windbreaker he loved, and wore it to preschool a couple of times. Then he refused to wear it because a couple of the boys gave him a hard time about. Even though we’re Auburn grads I try to teach them that we’re “for” Auburn, not “against” Alabama because people can be so mean about it, and I don’t want them to be a part of the insanity. Of course, after hearing his teacher jokingly make a negative remark about Auburn I kinda figured out where the problem started. You’d think she’d realize how seriously little guys take the things she says. Of course, with your “mixed” marriage you’ve got a whole different issue with your kids! šŸ™‚
