Happy Day

Phoebe slept from about 8:30 last night to 3:15! For those of you keeping count, that is officially sleeping through the night. Yes, I would not consider 3:15 morning by a normal definition, but that is very good for a baby! Now if we can just keep it up, and eventually move that time forward a little.

Rick is dancing in excitement!

One Month

Little Miss Phoebe is one month old today! I don’t know where the month has gone, really! Two more until I have to return to work. I can hardly believe my time at home with her is a third over!

What’s new lately? We’ve been having to learn not to jump at her first cry anymore. She often cries out, and by the time we get to her she’s back asleep. There have even been times where I’ve waited and listened and though, “ok, she’s awake,” but she’s clearly not again when I get to her. But we’re learning!

We’ve yet to see a true smile, but there have been plenty while she sleeps. I’ve even seen/heard her laugh in her sleep. I love it when she does that. I never knew how much fun it could be to just sit and hold a newborn and watch her sleep.

She’s growing leaps and bounds! Rick measured her the other day at 24 inches! She hasn’t been weighed recently, so I don’t know how much she weighs, but I can definitely tell she’s putting on weight. Her cheeks are so chubby! 🙂 I love the little chubby cheeks!

As for me, I’m doing pretty well. I can do more and more around the house. My lower abdomen is still a bit tender, but it gets better every day. I gained somewhere around 40 lbs. in this pregnancy, and I have somewhere around 10-15 lbs left to go. I’m in the weird in between state where maternity pants are falling off of me, but my normal pants won’t zip up. I went out this weekend and got some cheap pants a size up from what I normally wear. I’m finding that those are a bit loose, but I did try on the size down and they were too tight too. So for now it is size up with a belt, or maternity pants that I keep having to pull back up! 😉 I hope that soon at the very least, my sizing evens out. Even if my weight isn’t all the way down.

I also cannot wear my wedding ring set still. Seeing as all the swelling is gone (best I can tell), I think that my hand has permanently changed size. I will give it a few more weeks though before I go resize those rings. I do want to have those back on my hand by the time I return to work.

And that’s our one month update! 🙂

The Moby

Look, no hands!

Cover me back up mom! That light’s bright! 😉

We received the Moby wrap from Rick’s brother and family. So far, I haven’t done a good job of getting her in there. But today! Today I found that she woke up if I laid her down, and she was getting fussy if I tried to sit and rock her, but if I was walking around the house holding her, she was ok. Enter the Moby! And as you can see from the photos, she fell asleep pretty quickly once I got her all wrapped up. It is nice to be able to keep her happy while keeping my hands free. I could type this post while holding her and using both hands to type! Very exciting indeed!

The Moby is also nice because Rick and I either one can use it. This is difficult to achieve with other slings due to the size difference between the two of us.

So definitely thanks to Chris and Mercy for the Moby! I think that we’ll get lots of use out of it. 🙂

3 weeks

Saturday Phoebe turned 3 weeks old. We celebrated…

By taking our first family shopping trip! We went to Sears to get a new dishwasher. Ours decided to start leaking on Friday night. That just won’t do, so we went shopping! We even took the opportunity to walk the mall. I rested the remainder of the day when we got home. But I really enjoyed our little family outing. Phoebe slept in the travel system the whole time, and I kept her covered, so people didn’t come up to want to touch her. At 3 weeks, I still worry about germy strangers touching her. 🙂

And we have the best pediatricians ever. We got a phone call at 6:30 Saturday night from one of the pediatricians on staff to let us know that her eye culture came back negative. We got the ok to stop the eye ointment at that point as well, which makes us all much happier. We just have to massage her tear duct to keep it from being clogged.
